Transport subsidy information

To subsidise transport costs, all schools will be eligible to receive $5 (GST inclusive) per student that attends Hine O Te Kura Youth Symposium.

An additional subsidised amount will be a contestable subsidy, and will be determined based on a combination of the following:

  • Total number of requests
  • Te Tahuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education’s Equity Index
  • Transport requirements (owned transport versus hire transport)

This additional subsidy will be reviewed as schools register students for the event and confirmed ahead of the event.

Schools can request additional subsidised support through the registration form.

The subsidy will be provided after the event upon receipt of an invoice, schools will be emailed further details of this by 31 May 2023.

If you’re interested in your school's attendance being student led, we have these two posters which you can display within your schools to encourage students to nominate themselves to attend.
